National Assembly Receives 2018 Budget Report

The National Assembly today received the report of its appropriation committees on the 2018 budget. The report was submitted at both Senate and House of Representatives.

The lawmakers will deliberate on the report this week and they are expected to pass the budget into law before the week runs out.

President Buhari in November last year, presented a budget of N8.6 trillion to a joint session of the National Assembly.

The passage of the budget was delayed after the lawmakers accused heads of government parastatals and ministries of failing to appear before relevant committees to defend the budgets of their various offices.

President Buhari had a closed door meeting with Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara last week and it was agreed that the lawmakers pass the budget this week.
