Arsenal FC have made their first Summer signing after appointing Unai Emery as the club’s head coach.
Estonia’s fourth tier side, FC Nomme United, on Wednesday, confirmed that the club’s goalkeeper, Karl Jakob Hein, has signed a professional contract with Arsenal after a successful trial.
FC Nomme United used their Twitter page to confirm that the 16-year-old has earned a three-year contract with the Gunners, which will start when he turns 17 in April 2019.
According to the statement, “Estonian U17 national team goalkeeper Karl Jakob Hein joined @Arsenal”.
Hein becomes the first player from his club, FC Nomme United, to earn a contract in England after many players before him failed.
The Estonia Under-17’s shot-stopper will link up with Arsenal’s academy before penning professional terms.
Hein becomes Arsenal’s first signing since Arsene Wenger’s departure.
The goalkeeper turned out for Estonia during their failed attempt to qualify for Under-17 European Championships in England, which ended at the weekend.
